Has Your #Peace Group Joined #AfghanistanTuesday ?

Duke Augustus believes #AfghanistanTuesday is an effective way for your Peace Group to bring attention to the 10- year war the US is conducting in Afghanistan.  The US corporate media ignores any protests against the war, and even ignores that a war is going on.  The best way to stop the war is to bring the issue directly to thecitizens.  if you are not familiar with Twitter, they track search terms with a “#” before them, and report which ones are “tracking” meaning they are getting a lot of tweets.

Native American Lullaby: Royal Song of the Day 9/4/2011

Passamaquoddy Lullaby is The Royal Song of the Day for Sunday, September 4th.

The Passamaquoddy Tribe is located near the St. Croix River, with the tribal area covering both Canada and The United States. This lullaby is a beautiful piece of Passamaquoddy culture, and offers a moment of calm meditation. Though, the Duchess also shared this song today in honor of the powwow of another tribe, which is happening this weekend… Continue reading Native American Lullaby: Royal Song of the Day 9/4/2011

Yesterday: Peace Song of the Day 9/3/2011

Susanna, Duchess of Peace writes: I designed The Royal Peace Song of the Day project partly to give myself some self discipline in posting regularly to this website. It has worked in some measure. Though, I guess I have not perfected the task, since this is not the first time I am publishing a song of the day for yesterday, today.

In honor of the poignant striving inside my failure, the Peace Song of the Day for yesterday, September 3rd, is “Yesterday” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. You can find the lyrics to this song in the “Hard Times and Blues” section of the Rise Up Singing songbook, on page 106. I can guess that someone, somewhere in the world, actually sang that song yesterday!

More about this song of the day, and where to find more like it… Continue reading Yesterday: Peace Song of the Day 9/3/2011

Enjoy the waters: Royal Song of the Day for 8/31/2011

(Yes, it is 9/1, and we are posting the Royal Song for 8/31. We like each day to have its song, even if we don’t get to it on time!)

“Calypso” by John Denver is The Royal Song of The Day for 8/31/2011. John Denver wrote it in tribute of ecologist and explorer, Jacques Cousteau. The Duke and Duchess of Peace would put John Denver and Jacques Couseau in the category of royalty for their contributions to “life and the living”…

The Duke and Duchess thought of this song, because yesterday, they took a whale and dolphin watching cruise in the Atlantic Ocean.

Lots Of Work: Royal Song Of The Day 8/30/2011

The Royal Song of the Day is “Forty Hour Work Week” by Dave Loggins, Don Schlitz, & Lea Silver. You can find the lyrics to this song in Rise Up Singing on page 255. There are two video versions of this song below.

The Duke and Duchess of Peace would like to dedicate the Royal Song of the Day today to the LIPA workers, and other workers up and down the East Coast, who are cleaning up after Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene. A lot of people are pitching in and working together to help friends, family, and neighbors recuperate from Irene. Consider making music part of the your labors.
