Royal Song of the Day: Tuesday 7/26/2011

An unusual song for today, plucked from an on-line search for the terms “drive” and “safe”.

Susanna, Duchess of Peace explains:

There have been a lot of stories about car accidents in the news, lately. Not sure if there are more car accidents here on Long Island, or I am just noticing them and worrying about them more. Still, it is always good to pour some good energy over a problem. So, The Royal Song of the Day is a fun and soothing song about car safety.

The song I found is someone’s entry into a jingle contest for an insurance company. (I think the music is from the company’s commercials?) The video creator is from Hawaii, so, the song has an uplifting spirit, and mentions the wonderful, cultural concept of “Aloha”*. Also, the video includes Ukulele music, which I find so happy and positive. (The Ukulele is experiencing a resurgence of popularity. Think about finding yourself a Ukulele, or checking out Ukulele music on your favorite video sharing site.)

Treat other drivers with respect
Spread Aloha from your car
Hey, you can be a
Drive Safe Star

I like the idea that while I am driving, immersed in the hunk of metal and plastic that is my car, I can still send out good vibes, and “spread Aloha from my car”.

Two links to explanations of the meaning of “Aloha”:

Wikipedia says, “Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, love, peace, compassion and mercy.”

Huna.org says Aloha means “ “The joyful sharing of life energy in the present” and that, “We use it in greetings and farewells and in expressing love. But the word means even more, it is a way of life.
