Waiting On The World To Change: Peace Song for 6/6/2012

Waiting On The World To Change by John Mayer is the Peace Song of the Day for June 6th. I love how this song celebrates the awakening that things are wrong, and war is bad. I hope that the message also comes through that just waiting is not enough. If you are ready to do something, see some links and suggestions at the readmore.

Excerpt from lyrics
Waiting On The World To Change
by John Mayer

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door…

Now, if you are tired of simply “waiting”, here are some ways The Duke and Duchess of Peace suggest to take action to change the world (towards peace!):

1. Join, support, and/or fund The War Resisters League

2. Find your local “Occupy Wall Street” group and start occupying public space for peace and justice and/or

3. If you live in the USA: Find a presidential candidate with “ending the wars” in his/her platform and get to work campaigning. Since neither the incumbent Democrat, nor the likely Republican candidate, have an antiwar policy, choose an alternative, independent, or third party candidate. Some of them will actually stand for peace in this 2012 election. There’s a fairly comprehensive list at Politics1.com: here.
