Happy Easter: An uplifting peace song for the day

Happy Easter! And, Happy Spring! “New World Coming” is the Peace Song of the Day for this Easter holiday, April 8th.

I remember singing “New World Coming” back in elementary school. Our teacher, Ms. Osmond [spelling?], was full of sparkle, and shared many wonderful, hippie-dippie songs with us. “New World Coming” was written in 1970 by the songwriting team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. It was performed by Cass Elliott, Nina Simone, Melba Moore and others.

The video above is Mama Cass Elliot, singing the song with great joy, and with a giant, spinning peace symbol in the background. Viewing it is a wonderful, whimsical Easter present for a peace activist!

Excerpt from lyrics:

Yes a new world’s coming
The one we’ve had visions of
Coming in peace, coming in joy
Coming in love

The Peace Song of the Day is a project of Duke Augustus and Duchess Susanna, The Duke and Duchess of Peace. The Duke and Duchess recognize that one of the paths to peace is to find soulful and nonviolent entertainment, and to express oneself with art and song.
